How can you thrive as a single parent?

On Behalf of | Dec 23, 2018 | Child Custody

When you are going through a divorce in Florida, you could temporarily be the sole parent. Depending on your situation, your responsibilities may extend beyond your divorce if you are granted full custody of your children. If your ex is not fit to share parenting responsibilities with you, you could end up being a single parent and the charge of raising your children falls solely on your shoulders.

While you may initially feel overwhelmed at the changes in your family dynamic, there are undoubtedly things that you can do to make your experience positive and rewarding while empowering your children to be successful as well. According to the Mayo Clinic, one of the best things that you can do is to take adequate care of yourself. Set aside time to pursue your hobbies, exercise, get enough rest and eat well so that you can be available for your children and have energy and confidence.

When you are working, do your research to find quality childcare provided by people who share your values and exhibit the characteristics you would like for your children to learn. As you form a new routine for you and your children, do your best to maintain a regular schedule as often as possible. The consistency will help your children to feel confident that they are well taken care of and loved. You will also benefit from relying on the support and help of your family and friends to care for your children.
